FSMO WTF!
A little brush up on ADDS and those give roles that we love so much. So, here they are ... In Active Directory, a FSMO role is a unique role that is assigned to one or more domain controllers in a forest. These roles are used to control the management of certain operations within a domain or forest. There are five FSMO roles: Schema master: controls updates and modifications to the schema, which defines the structure of objects in the Active Directory. Domain naming master: controls the addition or removal of domains in the forest. RID master: manages the allocation of unique relative ID (RID) pools to each domain controller in a domain. PDC emulator: acts as a primary domain controller (PDC) for backwards compatibility with older versions of Windows. Infrastructure master: updates group-to-user references when group members are renamed or moved.
